I love a charity shop but I am also the Face of VEGAN Happy Clothing, which is a gorgeous ethical brand I support. But you don't need to shop new, and you don't need to spend a lot. The most important thing is to be a little brave and really dress for yourself, not as you think others want you to be. Clothing is a great form of self-expression.
